Current European initiatives in eInfrastructures strive to provide a pan-European networking and computing&storage (Grid) infrastructure, in order to enable world-class research and scientific collaborations throughout Europe, referred to as eScience. SEE-GRID-2 project has facilitated the establishment of a Grid infrastructure in Albania, integrated with wider regional South-East European Grid infrastructure, and open to local researchers for scientific computations. The first part of this high-level policy workshop will focus on presenting the European and regional vision on eInfrastructures and eScience, and discussing the ways forward in this field in Albania. High-level representatives of Grid Initiatives from a number of South-East European countries will be present, while the expected audience are the key policy-makers / government representatives from scientific, research and development and infrastructure fields, as well as industrial representatives.
Furthermore, the ELISA project aims at improving the access of SMEs in South-Eastern Europe, to knowledge, information, e-business practices and the globalized digital economy, through close cooperation of academic and business communities. The project is at a final stage in Albania and has met its objectives by transferring best practice training know-how and by developing national training strategies. In this policy workshop, the ELISA representatives will highlight the importance of the uptake of relevant policy measures for the promotion of the use of e-business technologies, practices and models for Albanian Enterprises.
