Project Manager [Nikolaos Apostolopoylos]

Activities
1   Activity 2.1 Analyze e-learning platform requirements
2   Activity 2.2 Evaluation of existing e-learning platforms
3   Activity 2.3 Specify the ELISA e-learning platform
4   Activity 2.4 Implement modifications and extensions to the selected e-learning platform
5   Activity 2.5 Evaluation and final release of the ELISA e-learning platform

Activity 2.1 Analyze e-learning platform requirements  [Nikolaos Apostolopoulos]
Description
Technical and functional requirements for the e-Learning platform. The activity includes an analysis of the current situation of ICT skills of SMEs in the targeted area.

top
Activity Analysis
  1. Specification of functionalities/tools to fit in the scenarios of deployment
    • Train the Tutors, teletutoring (Work package 4.2)
    • Train the SME, face-to-face in tele-education rooms (Work package 4.3)
    • Evaluate the training process (Work package 4.4)
  2. Specification of necessities of the platform to deploy the content:
    • Training package for the tutors (Work package 3.1)
    • Training package for SMEs (Work package 3.2)
  3. Receive feed-back from the Work package-Leaders that execute the actions where the platform is used and from NREN, representatives, project partners to collect their expectations and deployment bottlenecks
  4. Summary and priorisation of requirements

Activity 2.2 Evaluation of existing e-learning platforms [Nikolaos Apostolopoulos]
Description
Evaluation of the State of the art regarding to the existing open source collaborative tools and e-Learning platforms.

top
Activity breakdown
  1. Specify criteria for the choice of platforms
    1. Functionalities/tools, interfaces for modifications and programming
    2. requirements (in infrastructure) for an useful adoption
    3. costs for sustainable maintenance of the platform
    4. Usability
  2. Collect experiences (out of Work package 2.1) of the future users of the Elisa-platform concerning eLearning platforms
  3. Proposal which platform to use (and to be extended/ modificated)
top
First Decisions:
Due to first works on platforms within the Elisa project, further experiences of project participants and the constrain to keep the possibility to maintain the platform sustainable, the first decision within WP 2.2 was only to take open source platforms into account The open source platforms to take into account are: To have a comparison one commercial product will be included within the evaluation:Blackboard: http://www.blackboard.com/

Activity 2.3 Specify the Elisa e-learning platform  [Nikolaos Apostolopoulos]
Description
Specification of architecture and design of the proposed e-learning platform.

top
Activity Analysis
  1. Adjustment of the Output of WP 2.1 (Requirements Analysis) and WP 2.2 (Evaluation existing e-Learning Platforms). None of the e-Learning platforms or collaborative tools will exactly fulfil all the needs ("Must-Have"). Thus the selected platform is to be modified, specified and potentially extended.
  2. Tasks for programming to realize the needs will be specified and a priorisation list will be developed

Activity 2.4 Implement modifications and extensions to the selected e-learning platform  [Giorgos Zissis]

Description
Customization and parameterization of an existing open source e-Learning and e-communication tool, selected during activity 2.2. This activity will run during the entire training process activities in order to integrate requests and comments from tutors, SMEs etc.

Activity Analysis
The development phase of the e-learning platform is separated into five phases:
  1. Integration of the administrative support tools.
  2. Integration of the asynchronous learning phase tools.
  3. Integration of the synchronous learning phase tools.
  4. Adjustments in "look and feel"
  5. Translation of the platform in 8 languages.

Activity 2.5 Evaluation and final release of the Elisa e-learning platform  [Nikolaos Apostolopoulos]
Description
Evaluation of the e-Learning system performance according to the technical and functional requirements and the results and remarks produced during the pilot training phase. Final release of the e-learning platform (phase 2) as a regular service after feedback from evaluation.

top
Activity Analysis
  1. Develop a questionnaire to evaluate the success in deployment of the platform within the Work package 4.2: Train the Tutors.
  2. Develop a questionnaire (that is to be complementally to the questionnaire in Work package 4.4) to evaluate the success in deployment of the platform within the Work package 4.3: Train the SMEs.
  3. Supplementary evaluations will comprise the gathering of experiences from Tutors, Administration, Technical stuff, etc.
Main categories for evaluation of the eLearning platform are: usability, functionality, stability/performance.
